Placental growth factor, an index for detection of women with preeclampsia

چکیده
We aimed to investigate the correlation between placental growth factor (PIGF) expression in placenta of preeclampsia (PE) patients and PE symptoms. Between June 2013 and June 2015, a total of 141 placenta samples were selected from 141 gravidas who delivered in The Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University. Among 141 gravidas, 50 healthy gravidas were regarded as the control group, 45 gravidas with mild PE were the MPE group and 46 gravidas with severe PE were the SPE group. Systolic pressure (SBP), diastolic pressure (DBP) on two occasions after 20 weeks of gestation and birth weight were recorded. PIGF expression and microvessel density (MVD) were detected via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and immunohistochemistry, respectively. SBP and DBP in the control, MPE and SPE groups were increased in turn; birth weight, PIGF expression and MVD in the control, MPE and SPE groups were decreased in turn. Correlation analysis showed that PIGF expression was negatively correlated with PE symptoms at peripartum, SBP and DBP, but positively with birth weight and MVD (all P < 0.05). Our results demonstrated that PIGF expression was negatively correlated with BP, and positively correlated with birth weight and MVD. Thus, PIGF can sever as a detection index of PE, which provides a direction for diagnosis and treatment of PE.

Angiogenic Markers and Cardiovascular Indices in the Prediction of Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy.
Angiogenic and antiangiogenic factors have proven to be an accurate predictive means of preeclampsia. Echocardiographic studies have shown that women with preeclampsia exhibit significant cardiovascular strain, especially early-onset preeclampsia. The aim of this study is to determine preeclampsia risk with soluble fms-like tyrosin kinase 1/placental growth factor ratio, serum NT-proBNP (N-term...
متن کاملVascular dysfunction in women with a history of preeclampsia and intrauterine growth restriction: insights into future vascular risk.
BACKGROUND Women with a history of placental disease are at increased risk for the future development of vascular disease. It is unknown whether preexisting endothelial dysfunction underlies both the predisposition to placental disease and the later development of vascular disease. The aim of this study was to assess vascular function in postpartum women and to determine whether differences eme...
متن کاملMidtrimester maternal plasma concentrations of angiopoietin 1, angiopoietin 2, and placental growth factor in pregnant women who subsequently develop preeclampsia
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to compare midtrimester maternal plasma concentrations of angiopoietin 1, angiopoietin 2, and placental growth factor between pregnant women who subsequently developed preeclampsia and those who did not. METHODS Midtrimester maternal plasma was collected and stored at -70℃ when genetic amniocentesis was performed. Cases included 37 samples of individual who...
متن کاملAngiogenic factors in superimposed preeclampsia: a longitudinal study of women with chronic hypertension during pregnancy.
Imbalances in circulating angiogenic factors contribute to the pathogenesis of preeclampsia. To characterize levels of angiogenic factors in pregnant women with chronic hypertension, we prospectively followed 109 women and measured soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase 1 (sFlt1), soluble endoglin, and placental growth factor at 12, 20, 28, and 36 weeks' gestation and postpartum. Superimposed preecla...
متن کاملPregnancy/Preeclampsia Midgestation Maternal Serum 25-Hydroxyvitamin D Level and Soluble Fms-Like Tyrosine Kinase 1/Placental Growth Factor Ratio as Predictors of Severe Preeclampsia
Recent studies have shown that low serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25[OH]D) level is a risk factor for preeclampsia. The clinical significance of in vitro findings that vitamin D regulates vascular endothelial growth factor production is unclear. We sought to determine whether there is an association between midgestation serum 25(OH)D levels and angiogenic factor activity and to compare their predic...
